IMPROVING PLAYER WELFARE
Maximising the health, performance and welfare of footballers in Australia
OUR PURPOSE
The The Football Medicine Association is an independent body that works with the Member Federation and National governing body (Football Federation of Australia) to promote and advocate for Player Welfare in sub-elite (semi-professional and amateur) football.
The role of the FMA is to develop a network and pathway to assist clubs, medical and performance staff to maximise and improve player welfare standards in football. The FMA provides a pathway to disseminate football specific medical and performance information to all stakeholders in football - players, parents, coaches, medical staff, referees, clubs and associations. By better facilitating information sharing and promoting player welfare, it is our goal to develop new and improved minimum medical standards in sub-elite football.
The FMA will receive input from health and medical professionals from all components of the player welfare spectrum and endeavours to partner with Universities to facilitate rapid translation of research into the "real world" practice.
The FMA is endorsed and supported by the Head of Medical for the Football Federation of Australia, Dr. Mark Jones .
